Admission

Procedures for assisted and involuntary admission
For assisted or involuntary admission a family member, spouse or caregiver of the person to be admitted must complete the necessary forms and sign them under oath, as required by the Mental Healthcare Act. These forms can be obtained from any of the admitting psychiatrists at the Life Glynnview or alternatively from the admission office at the facility. It is advisable for the family member, spouse or caregiver to accompany the person to be admitted in order to complete these forms. If this is not possible, they must present themselves at Life Glynnview within 24 hours of the user’s admission, to complete the forms. Further legal processes relating to assisted and involuntary admissions will be explained by a Life Glynnview representative.

For after hour emergency situations, Life The Glynnwood’s 24 hour trauma and emergency unit should be approached for assistance. The unit is situated across the road from Life Glynnview, or can be contacted at tel. 011 421 0911.
